Even though Young Life is especially for kids, parents and other adults in the community are important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways — by becoming a volunteer leader or committee member, by attending a Young Life fund-raising event, by hosting Young Life or by simply telling others in the community about Young Life and its commitment to kids.
Every title in Young Life — from regional director to area director to staff associates and vice presidents — represents a man or a woman whom God has gifted to help reach every kid. The design of the ministry allows each part of Young Life to run smoothly while still training and mentoring the new staff who answer the call each year.
At the top of the Young Life umbrella is the Board of Trustees and the president, Denny Rydberg. Helping these men and women make decisions for the mission are the senior vice presidents and the chief of staff.
Under the above leadership, Young Life divides into eight distinct arms of the mission that work together to fulfill the high calling of reaching teenagers. These essential gears in the machinery of Young Life are field ministry, which includes all local Young Life areas; the Young Life Foundation; Development Services; Communications; Operations; the Young Life Camping office, which includes Young Life’s camps; Finance; Mission Information Services and Human Resources.
In all, Young Life employs more than 3,300 staff. Each year, more than 150 new staff associates join the Young Life family to work for a two-year period before discerning whether they are called to continue with the ministry.
Keeping Kids Safe
An important part of our committment to kids is how we keep kids safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know they are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity. Young Life's Human Resources department has developed mission-wide policies and procedures to ensure that kids are protected when they are with Young Life staff and/or leaders.
